Since before the appearance of the true Messiah (Jesus Christ of Nazareth). There have been false claims by people claiming to be the Promised one. The latest (well from what I know, we don’t know what’s happening in a trailer park, coffee shop, or backwoods somewhere in the world) the man called Vissarion claims to be the Messiah. In this article there will be some information about him and his followers and then a look at some of his beliefs.
Born: January 14, 1961
Lived: In Suburbs of Krasnodar with family of builders until he was 7. His family then moved to Siberia. His family finally settled in the town of Minusinsk.
He is called Vissarion, an ex traffic cop, now claims to be the "living word of God". Or as his site states: "The Teacher of this new life of Spiritual Growth and Blossoming is Vissarion – the living Word of God. His Essence – to give life"
He claims to help people to demonstrate in practice the "boundless potential for spiritual development to those having taken his word in their hearts."
WHERE IS HE LOCATED?
The Capital City of the Promised Land is in Petropavlovka, Russia. The site takes pride in claiming that the first humans were from Russia. They called themselves Aries and spread out throughout the world, and in the end times will once again gather there.
HIS REALIZATION
Vissarion claims to have fully realized who he was in May 1990. He first contacts came in March of 1991. Since then as the site claims "the word has been walking on the earth"
HIS FOLLOWERS
Vissarion’s followers first appeared in Minusinsk in 1992. In 1993 the community has been growing, and now the place is called the "Promised Land"
His goal is to build a place where everyone lives in harmony. Where they have food. Where words do not differ from action, and where all greed, fear, envy, etc is done away with. The children are taught the teachings of Vissarion and anything violent is taken out of their teaching as much as possible.
One follower on an old forum post stats: "I myself spent a LOT of time reading and analyzing this event before I become fully aware He is the One who He pretends to be… But OK, everyone has his/her own path to the Truth."
The greatest problem with this comment is that, if the follower did his research properly. He would learn that the return of the Messiah is explained in the New Testament, and clearly is not explained in the way that Vissarion has appeared. Something I’d be very happy to discuss if someone wishes to contact me.
EXAMINING HIS TEACHING
Most all of the false Christs that appear on the scene have in common the idea, that they have been born as the new Messiah. The one to lead people to peace. Or one that has been indwelt with the Spirit of the Messiah. The problem with this is that the true Messiah. When He returns will be Jesus of Nazareth. I don’t plan to go into detail about this topic right now, but God willing will do so in a future article.
One of Vissarion’s writings is called "Directions". The subtitle of this document is: "I am giving you small flames, which will light up the path to the heights of Perfection". In this writing Vissarion has 61 separate points
Vissarion in his own way agrees to the validity of the Old and New Testament, and claims that he is the last testament. With that said then. The Last Testament should not contradict the Old or New Testament in anyway. The Character of God should remain the same, and God’ Sovereign plan should be seen. So first off, I will look at his writings called "Directions", and list points that is contrary with the teachings of God, our Saviour — Jesus Christ.
DIRECTIONS
Not all points will be mentioned. Some points are common sense, worded in Vissarion’s own way of talking. If Vissarion was truly who He claims to be, then there should be no errors at all in his directions. For that reason I will only be bringing to light a small amount of them, to show that this man is not anything close to Deity.
Point:
3 — "But untruth, which brings good is wisdom."
Scripture does not simply permit untruth if one feels it will bring wisdom. No scripture does not permit you to say your wife’s new dress looks great to bring her peace if in fact it’s awful.
Col 3:9 Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices
18 — "Strive to reach the heights of spiritual Love, one of the three sisters of the Mother of Perfection"
This is one topic that is still being researched. One thing is clear though is that only God is to get glory. Once titles such as "Mother of Perfection" is given to things, it’s given a Pagan influence and taking focus off God.
19 — Do not avoid temptations.
For the true purification of the soul is only in the immediate overcoming of each temptation.
If you feel a lack of strength in this purification, then seek a man who will give you the strength.
This man is already waiting for you.
Remember the God’s words: “Do not walk the short path for not everyone will enter into My kingdom.”
This quote is to be honest somewhat confusing and seems to be logically inconsistent. The follower is to not avoid temptations but to overcome them.
If thought about, perhaps he is trying to say "Don’t just avoid temptations, but find a way to overcome them to a point where they are no longer in your life."
The problem with this is that it’s not worded that way. The second paragraph says "Immediate overcoming of each temptation" So in paragraph one, Vissarion is saying don’t avoid temptations, while in paragraph two he is saying, every time we see one, immediately overcome it. So according to the written statement by Vissarion, it is safe to assume he is meaning, that if a man is tempted by a woman, it is alright for him to completely undress himself then undress her, then go "oooh never mind, time to overcome" get re-dressed and walk away. I would also like to have Vissarion explain:
Mat 5:28 But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Also Romans chapter 3 to just have a peak at the heart of humans. Jeremiah 17:9 may show as well.
Then the last quote from "God" is not found in the Bible, so not sure what Vissarion is getting at. Unless ofcourse it’s a seriously bad translation of, Matthew chapter 7 and extremely out of context.
33 — …The law of adultery regards only those bound by marriage.
It does not affect the divorced ones.
I have no interest in getting into the whole remarriage debate, but am curious to hear Vissarion’s thoughts on Mark 10:11,12. There’s other places here too, but it does seem to affect the divorced. It also seems to affect the unmarried as touched on in Deuteronomy chapter 22.
42 — ….When outer well-being dominates inner well-being, them this is a sign of an approaching catastrophe.
It was said by an ancient that why beholdest thou the mote that is in the brother’s eye , but considerest not the beam that is in thy own eye.
Now I say to you, do not seek to laugh at the flaws of a man who was the first to point out your own flaw.
The quotation that Vissarion is referring to is:
Mat 7:3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?
And it is much more then something that is simply quoted by an ancient, but is quoted by the creator of all things, and Saviour of the lost — Jesus Christ.
CONCLUSION
This article is actually very brief and doesn’t hold a lot of information. Other then the fact that there’s another guy out there who claims to be the Messiah. There are many of these types out there. I wonder how a discussion would go if they all were in a room together. When the true Messiah returns, there will be absolutely no confusion by us who are Christian. There will be no "let me try to figure this out" thinking. For Shall appear in the sky, to take us home to be with Him. Not stuck in the harsh climate of Siberia, the heat of New Mexico (Travesser) or the Tropical Climates of down south(Miranda).
