These handful of points below have been taken from an article about Miranda that can be found in full here. (The writings in bold are from the article on Miranda)
“Believing in Jesus of Nazareth does not make you a Christian,” he says. “Jesus of Nazareth was a Jew. He wasn’t a Christian; he was a Jewish man…People who put their eyes on Jesus of Nazareth become Jews, and they don’t know.”
There are a number of errors with this statement that I feel confident that even a child with an elementary knowledge of the Bible could answer Miranda on the term Christian.
Historically speaking, what does the term Christian mean? Dictionary.com gives a wonderful explanation of the term “Christian”; I will not list them all here, but would recommend one looking up the definition for themselves.
“Pertaining to, or derived from Jesus Christ or His teaching”,
“belonging to the religion based on the teachings of Jesus Christ”. We know that being a member of a Church does not make one a Christian, yet find it fascinating that the secular world understands the term yet Miranda (something that not even Jesus Christ did) will take a term and blatantly lie about it’s meaning in such a way that he seems to be in a child like mindset.
“Exhibiting a spirit proper to a follower of Jesus Christ” From the Biblical writings we get a definition of what a Christian is. The Greek term for “Christian” (Acts 11:26) is taken after the similar Greek structure as found in Matthew 22:16 where you can read the term “Herodians”. Herodians were ones that followed Herod, or “belonged to Herod”. So the term caught on for the early followers of Christ to be called “Christian” which simply means “followers of Christ” — Jesus Christ.
THE TERM JEW
Dictionary.com also gives a good explanation of what the term “Jew” means.
“one of a scattered group of people who trace it’s descent from a Biblical Hebrew or from prostexilic adherence of Judaism - Israelite.”
“a person who’s religion is Judaism”
Jesus Christ as man was born within a Jewish family, making him by the birth here on earth a Jew. Someone that follows someone else does not make them a part of a nation or religion. Jesus Christ, did not come to support Judaism and keep it in the state it was in, but to replace it with something much greater. Salvation through Him alone.
Galatians 3: 23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.(KJV)
(ref. (Romans 6:15)
When one puts their trust in Christ, in the Jesus of Nazareth, they become a Christian as the term explains. It is completely illogical to make the connection that everyone that trusts Christ is Jewish. I am a Canadian by natural birth and Christian by spiritual birth.
“So then I took him back upstairs and put him in bed and then I went to bed myself and when I went to my room, two angels appeared, two strong men. Tall. Strong. And they said to me, ‘The King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, He is coming tonight to anoint you for the ministry.’ So I was scared, I was happy, I thought He was going to give me a gift.”
Galatians 1:8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.
The gospel Miranda is preaching is contrary to the one spoken of by Paul in the epistles. Miranda claims that the spirit of the Christ, of the Messiah came within him and he is the all new son of God. The major problem with this is the fact that Jesus of Nazareth, always was, and always will be filling that role. Let’s look at the proofs from a couple different places.
1. Jesus of Nazareth was going back and in heaven…
Acts 22:8 And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest.
This same Jesus of Nazareth who Paul speaks about is the one who will return as well
Colossians 1:15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. (Jesus of Nazareth, the same that is called Jesus Christ is the head of all creation)
16 For by {That is, by means of; or in} him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities––all things were created through him and for him. (He has created everything)
17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
18 And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.
19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell,
20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.
2: 9 For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, (he still has a body even as Steven could acknowledge in Acts 7:56)
There is no invisible force of the Messiah floating around waiting to go into someone. Jesus of Nazareth, is the Son of God. He is God, the creator of all things, and is the one who will return to take His own home.
In Galatians 2:7, Paul says he was given the task of preaching to the Gentiles, while Peter’s lot was the Jews. “Paul was killed and Peter kept preaching the wrong gospel,” says De Jesús, “and it’s bad medicine to the whole world. Rome was defeated with the wrong gospel.”
The evidence of Paul’s death would put it around 66 a.d. while what evidence there is would put Peter’s death most likely around 64-67 a.d. (source: Easton’s dictionary).
It is a myth and a great legend that peter founded the Roman Catholic Church, and is obvious that it is one that Miranda has bought into. The Apostle peter spoke the same gospel as Paul did.
Christ came to save — 1 Timothy 1:15; 1 Peter 2:24
“The Book of Revelations is about hell, inferno, and all these souls are thrown into hell, being burned,” he says. “And I said, Wait a minute, let’s put this on the table. What is fire? Hell is supposed to be fire, you know. Fire burns the carpet, the wood, but the soul is not a material thing. A soul cannot be burned. That doesn’t really make sense.”
The immediate problem with this statement is that the one quoting the above statement is using human reasoning in an attempt to explain actions of God.
God is a God of miracles and is not subject to the laws of physics. If one asked you if a bush would burn if you set it on fire most would say yes, but Moses experienced a bush on fire that would not burn. In the book of Joshua the sun stood still, Christ’s death at noon, the sky went unnaturally dark. There are a number of “miracles” in the bible, yet it is soothing to the sinful nature of mankind to dismiss hell when they get to revelations. Revelations states the fires of hell affect the souls of humans. This is done by the same being that can light a bush on fire and not have it burn.
