Statement Of Faith

GENESIS ACCOUNT:
  • We hold to the 6 days of Creation as explained in Genesis and Exodus. (Ex. 20:11)

  • We hold to the table of Nations in Genesis 10 as accurate.

  • We believe, (like the Bible teaches) that Noah’s flood was global. (Genesis 7:10,17; Genesis 9:11)

  • We believe that teaching such as the “Gap Theory”, “Theistic Evolution” and other thoughts along these lines are not found in scripture and are inventions of human minds in an attempt to bring the Bible in line with false evolutionary science.

THE BIBLE:

  • We believe that the Bible, has been given to us from God through chosen men, and is reliable in every aspect it touches on, including life, science and the way of salvation for male and female. (2 Tim. 3:16)

  • We believe that the inspired scriptures are contained in the 66 books of today’s bible. Any other books claiming inspiration are proven to hold false information and lies about the nature of God, and are to be left either in the collection of the Apocrypha or the Gnostic gospels.

  • We hold the Bible as our ultimate source, there is no other inspired book that has been given to humans. We base our worldview off the Bible. If we use other books or Creeds as resource guides, they do not take precedence over the Bible and we do not consider them inspired by God.

GOD – THE TRINITY – JESUS CHRIST

God

  • We believe that there is only one true God (Isaiah 43:10; Isaiah 44:6)
  • We believe that the one true God is the creator and sustainer of all things
  • We believe in an absolute Sovereign God who plays an active role in all aspects of Earth’s history.

The Trinity

  • We believe in one true God distinguished by three distinct persons: the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  • We believe that the Holy Ghost is a person, and is not merely a force, but has emotions, personal actions and reactions to things humans do.

Jesus Christ

  • We hold to the eternal Sonship of Christ
  • We believe that Jesus Christ is eternal and was not created nor is He a spirit brother of Lucifer or anyone else.
  • We believe that He was more then a prophet or a great teacher, but was the promised Messiah, that would come to save His people.
  • We believe that Jesus is the only way for eternal salvation for those who believe. He was not just the Saviour for people during His day, nor was/is He one possible way. But that He is the only way for people during the time of Christ and people today.

SALVATION

  • We hold to the Monergistic View of Salvation
  • We believe in the Total Inability of humans to do anything at all to turn to Christ, for they have no interest, nor any type of desire
  • We believe that God is not bias in who He elects to Salvation, but elects from every tribe, nation and tongue.
  • We believe that there are a Limited number of elect that will gain salvation. The reason to show God’s love and glory in redeeming the many, and to show His righteousness and Glory is judging the non-elect, in a judgment we all deserved anyhow.
  • We believe that when God grants faith to some, that the call is irresistible and ones who God calls will be absolutely saved.
  • We hold to the eternal security of the soul. A true believer will be evident from his or her works and will persevere. The reason for the perseverance is because of the preservation of Christ.

INTERPRETING THE SCRIPTURES

  • Hermeneutics are extremely important when interpreting the Bible, a proper hermeneutics can lead to a right understanding of the scriptures. For that reason Pot and Torch holds to Dispensational Theology.
  • We hold to a literal interpretation to the scripture, only referring to allegory when it’s obviously being used.

DOCTRINES

Because of our method of interpreting the scripture and because of obvious truths in the Bible there are some other doctrines that Pot and Torch holds to be truth. Some of them are:

  • We hold to the pre-tribulation rapture of the church
  • We believe that the Church and Israel are distinct
  • We believe in the rising of the Anti-Christ during the tribulation
  • We believe in the literal millennial reign of Christ.
  • We do not hold to “Baptismal Regeneration” but hold to “Believer’s Baptism
  • We do not believe in speaking in tongues as a sign of being filled with the Holy Spirit
  • We do not hold to the active gift of speaking in tongues as they were used in scripture, today
  • We do not hold to continued revelation from God, for the Bible is the ultimate message given to us from God.
  • We believe in an eternal heaven
  • We believe in an eternal hell
